Just in stock is the latest ship model kit from Chris Watton’s Vanguard Models, the Ranger, a Barking Fish Carrier. Replacing the earlier well smacks, the fish carriers transported fish just caught from the fishing fleets and raced them back to the markets, requiring the best speed to assure fresh catch. So, boats like the Ranger were fast and had very fine lines.
This is Vanguard models fifth and most recent fishing boat kit. Like all Vanguard Models kit, this model is in 1/64 scale. Overall, it measures just over 20″ long and just over 19″ tall. The kit features MDF hull framing, a laser-engraved maple wood deck, walnut mast and spars, with hull planking in lime wood and pear wood. Parts include high-resolution 3D printed parts, two sheets of etched brass, and more.
This latest kit was designed specifically for the novice ship modeler, with some aspects simplified for ease of construction, while experienced modelers can modify construction as they wish. Scale accuracy and detail are both retained and among the best for any commercially available kit. Yet, the kit is ideal for those new to plank-on-bulkhead ship modeling.
The kit also includes the small workboat – a miniature kit in itself. You can make your own sails for the model, or you can purchase the premium sails set separately.
This beautiful kit is in stock now and can be your next ship modeling project! Find out more about the kit or purchase yours at Ages of Sail here: Ranger, Barking Fish Carrier
