Clubs and Organizations

Visiting or joining a ship model club is a great way to meet others that share your interest, and a way to gain access to knowledge and advice that may help you through your ship modeling dilemmas.

National/International

Nautical Research Guild – Organization that promotes the building of better ship models. Their motto is “Building Better Models Through Research”. A good group that holds an annual conference in different locations of the U.S. 2015 will be at Mystic, CT, so now is a great time to join! Membership includes a subscription to the quarterly Nautical Research Journal. Find out more at http://www.thenrg.org.

California

South Bay Model Shipwrights – Currently meets on the second Saturday of each month from 2pm to 4pm at the Game Kastle, 1350 Coleman Ave, Santa Clara, CA 95050. Contact club president Jim Rhetta, j.rhetta@yahoo.com for more info.

Hyde Street Pier Model Shipwrights – Meets at 9:30am on the third Saturday of each month in their workshop aboard the ferry boat Eureka at the San Francisco National Maritime Historic Park. Contact Clare Hess at catopower@mac.com.

Ship Modelers Association – Southern California group that meets on the third Wednesday of the month at 7pm at the Hobby Day Hall, Hobby Day Hall

Philadelphia Ship Model Society – Meetings are on the third Sunday of the month at 1:00pm at the U.S. Coast Guard Station, #3 Columbus Blvd., Philadelphia, PA 19106. Contact club president John Fichmann at ModelShip@aol.com.
